The Home Care and Care Industry is currently undergoing a huge shift.
As modern times are resulting in much tighter local authority budgets more and more are pushing for service users to remain within their own homes rather than entering residential care. Not only are they pushing for this, people are also wanting to have the choice of being able to stay at home and remain independent with a high-quality Home Care Service.
What Is The Reason For These Changes?
Modern technology and medicine have advanced greatly over the past years which is considered to be why people are living for longer which is a key factor in the Care Industry. Frailty and illness are both things that come with old age so it is inevitable that we will need some support later in our lives in order to remain independent. In the Care Industry, home care especially is a vital service that for many people can be extremely life changing.
Within the Care Industry, Live-In Care is much more cost effective for local authorities and as a result, the market continues to grow as additional authorities make the shift. Recent times have seen the biggest increase in the demand for care in the home. This has open many more opportunities as to why working in the Care Industry is the way forward.
The opportunities within the Health and Social Care Industry are endless
The market is currently worth in excess of £20 billion and it is growing. The Care Industry has many key factors as to why the industry is still growing. The population is ageing and living for longer, furthermore, people with long-term health conditions have better medical care due to the advances in modern technology and medicine. The UK Government has developed a Personalisation Agenda which means people now have the choice to remain independent. There are also currently 10 million people in the UK aged over 65 years and whilst not all these will require care at the moment it is inevitable that they will in the future.
The Future Of Home Care
The future of the Home Care Industry has projections estimated that over the next 20 years there will be 5.5 million more people over the age of 65. This is a growth of 58% which brings the total to 15.5 million. Again not all of these people currently require a home care support service, but it is inevitable that many will require such service during the course of their life.
