Last week our offices got their teams together for this year’s annual Christmas celebrations, in honour of the “Outstanding” job our home care team do… and we took the opportunity to support our clients even more than we usually do. .
This year we wanted to celebrate Christmas together, as a family, over a lovely meal. This was an opportunity for our staff to sit back, relax and let someone else care and prepare a meal for them as thanks for their commitment to delivering home care to our local communities. As part of our scheme to combat Social Isolation, we invited clients along to our Christmas meals and we are even providing some extra care free of charge to the clients we have who do not have any family, so they are not lonely over Christmas.
Added Christmas Cheer
The meals were our way of saying thank you to the Home Care Team for their work over the last year, including achieving an “Outstanding in Caring” rating from CQC and our award for being a “Top 20 Home Care Provider in the East Midlands”, as voted by our clients via homecare.co.uk. Our Home Care Team do an exceptional job and we all are very proud of them.
The meals were attended by the large majority of our Home Care Team, some of our clients and were held over a 3-day period. This was a great opportunity for our Home Care Teams to get together and catch up, as well as allow our new team members to get to know their colleagues and to stop our clients from being socially isolated.
All our offices sat down together and enjoyed a traditional 3-course Christmas meal and everyone said how they had a lovely time and that the venues were also superb. Anne Baxter, Registered Manager of our Lincolnshire Branch, said
The food was lovely. We enjoyed a 3-course menu with excellent service. A big thank you to everyone in the company for making this year such a success. Feedback from our clients and their families is consistently strong and we should all be very proud of this. We are really looking forward to 2020”.
Combatting Social Isolation with Kathleen
Kathleen has been one of our clients for a long time, but unfortunately, she has no family to help and support her. Furthermore, she had recently had some terrible news as her beloved dog has recently passed away. Our team wanted to make sure that Kathleen felt cared for and supported, so our wonderful team in York invited her along to the celebrations. Angela, Registered Manager of our York Branch said
She had been very tearful and down after this event, so me and the team decided to ring and invite her to our Christmas meal to lift her spirits and put a smile back on her face.”
Not only did the team help put a smile on her face, Kathleen also expressed how
she had a lovely time and really enjoyed being with the staff.”
A Special Surprise
Unfortunately, Kathleen is like many older people in the UK, who are socially isolated. Therefore, on Christmas day, our Home Care Team plan to cook Kathleen a homecooked Christmas dinner and spend even more time with her, so she is not alone on this day.
We, here at The Great Care Company, see issues such as this too often and we are truly grateful to have remarkable staff throughout our company who go the extra mile for our clients. Acts of kindness like this from our team are what truly makes our company great!
Merry Christmas from The Great Care Company
We would like to wish you, our clients, our client’s families and our staff a Merry Christmas. We hope that no matter how you celebrate Christmas you have a wonderful day.
