My Experience Joining The Great Care Company as an Experienced Carer

I discovered The Great Care Company on Indeed in May 2026. After reading about everything the company had to offer, I didn’t hesitate to apply.

I also took the time to look at The Great Care Company’s Facebook page, where I was really impressed to see the lovely things carers were doing with and for their clients, including taking them out and supporting them to enjoy meaningful experiences. The company’s website also looked very professional and gave me a really positive first impression.

In all honesty, part of me felt like the job sounded almost too good to be true.

Joining The Great Care Company as an Experienced Carer

Within a few days, I received an invitation to attend an interview, which is where my journey with The Great Care Company began.

I met with Anne, and from the very beginning, I found the interview process to be smooth, welcoming and professional. Within a few days, I received the fantastic news that I had been successful and was offered the position, which I was absolutely delighted about.

Having already worked in care before joining The Great Care Company, I had previous experience of the sector. Even so, the way I was welcomed and supported from the very beginning really stood out to me.

A Welcoming and Supportive Start

I then received emails with information about starting my role, the relevant apps, policies and everything else I needed to know. I found this information extremely helpful and professional.

When I visited the office, I was immediately made to feel welcome. The office had such a lovely atmosphere, and all of the staff were friendly, kind and approachable.

While I was waiting for my start date, I was kept fully informed regarding my references, training and any other information I needed. The communication throughout this period was fantastic, and I always felt up to date and supported.

I was also given the opportunity to complete some of my training at home while being paid for my time, which I really appreciated and found to be a huge positive.

Training and Shadowing in My New Care Role

Not long after, I began shadowing in my new role alongside a senior member of staff. She was incredibly helpful, patient and supportive throughout the process.

She took the time to teach me how The Great Care Company carries out care visits, while helping me get to know the clients, understand their individual needs and deliver the best possible care.

She was also honest and constructive when giving me feedback, always highlighting what I was doing well as well as areas where I could improve. This gave me confidence in my abilities while also allowing me to continue learning and developing.

Even with previous experience in care, I found the shadowing process extremely valuable in helping me understand how the company works and the high standards of care expected.

Building Confidence in My Home Care Role

When I felt ready, the management team supported me in progressing from shadowing to completing care visits independently.

By this point, I felt confident and more than ready to take the next step.

The clients were all incredibly lovely and welcoming, and being able to support people in their own homes has been extremely rewarding. Knowing that the work I do can make a positive difference to someone’s day is one of the most fulfilling parts of my role.

Ongoing Training and Support

I also completed three medication assessments, and I found this process to be very supportive. I never felt rushed or pressured and always felt that I was given the appropriate guidance.

Since starting with The Great Care Company, I have continued to feel supported through regular supervisions, spot checks and staff members regularly checking in with me.

The communication throughout the company has been phenomenal. I always feel that there is someone available to speak to if I need advice, reassurance or support.

What I Love About Working for The Great Care Company

I can genuinely say that I have never felt this happy in a job before.

It is a wonderful feeling to feel valued, appreciated and supported by the people around you. I look forward to coming to work every day, and I feel incredibly proud to be part of such a caring and compassionate company.

I would highly recommend The Great Care Company to anyone considering a role in care, whether they are new to the sector or already have experience.

My experience so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and I am extremely grateful to be part of such a supportive, professional and compassionate team.
