In the words of CQC (Care Quality Commission)

Outcomes for people who use services are consistently better than expected when compared with other similar services. People’s feedback about the effectiveness of the service describes it as exceptional and distinctive.

By caring, we mean that the service involves and treats people with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. Characteristics of services we would rate as outstanding in this area is that people are truly respected and valued as individuals and are empowered as partners in their care, practically and emotionally, by an exceptional and distinctive service.

Who are the Care Quality Commission (CQC)?

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an independent health and social care regulator. The CQC inspects and evaluates a provider’s quality to ensure a high standard of service is delivered to service users. The CQC uses a report-based approach to assess providers’ quality, identifying both best practices and areas of improvement that service users should be aware of.

How is the report made? 

The report is created by a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspector after conducting a comprehensive inspection. This inspection is done in accordance with section 60 of the NHS (Health and Social Care) Act 2008, which aims to ensure the safety and quality of health and social care services for the users. 

The inspection is carried out over two weeks by a CQC inspector and a CQC expert, who is someone who has personal experience with care either as a service user or a user’s representative. During the inspection, the CQC inspector will ask a set of specific questions to gather information.

How safe is the service?

During a provider’s inspection, the CQC evaluates their safety based on several factors. These include staffing and recruitment reviews, risk assessment, medication support, and system processes. CQC will engage with current clients and staff. Observing their day-to-day routines to assess the quality of care provided. Additionally, CQC will review all documentation and protocols filed by the provider.

Our recent inspection by the CQC rated us as “Good” overall. This indicates they were extremely satisfied with our safety standards and that our clients were well-protected.

Is the service effective?

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) assesses service providers’ effectiveness based on two key qualities. Firstly, the service provided must meet a satisfactory standard. Secondly, it must have a positive impact on the service user. The positive outcomes are then reinforced by feedback from the service user.

Our home care service was rated as “Good” overall for its effectiveness. With the incredible feedback from our clients being especially noteworthy. Specifically highlighting how helpful our team were in improving their day-to-day lives.

How caring is the team?

Caring is assessed by looking at how a service provider shows evidence of the following:
– Compassion
– Kindness
– Dignity
– Respect

We were rated as “Outstanding” by CQC.

Furthermore, CQC described our service as exceptional. As a result, we are over the moon to receive this rating. We were also delighted with the remarks our wonderful clients made in the report.

Is the service responsive?

CQC define responsiveness as the degree to which a service meets the needs of its users. This means that when a service is provided, the recipient receives all the necessary care within the allocated time.

Our responsiveness has been rated as “Good” by the CQC. They notably praised

  • The duration of our service
  • The clarity of our care plans
  • And the excellent understanding our staff have of our client’s needs and preferences.

How well-led are the company and team?

We are extremely proud of our management team who received high commendation from the CQC. Alongside being great leaders, they have also managed our Home Care Assistants exceptionally well.

Thanks to their efforts, we have received a “Good” rating from the CQC. Who have noted that our team has established a culture of high-quality and person-centred care.
