Our team has been supporting Roy for some time now and we take great pleasure in doing so. This is the story of how our team supports them.
We met with one of our wonderful clients, Roy, and his partner Dianne to hear their story about our home care services.
About Roy and Diane
Roy and Diane’s home care story started 24 years ago. They bumped into each other while hanging out with their friends at various pubs on Friday nights. After dating for six months, they became a couple. Roy was an engineer working in Skegness, and Diane was a careers advisor for offenders working in an open prison.
Before Roy’s condition progressed, they enjoyed travelling all over Lincolnshire and ending their explorations at a village pub, where they first met. Even though Roy’s mobility was restricted due to his condition, they still enjoyed getting out and about. They walk their two dogs and socialize with friends and family. Roy always makes time to go out for his weekly coffee, and Diane attends her Zumba class.
Our Day with Roy and Diane
In 1999, Roy was diagnosed with MS. He was still able to work for about 16 years after his diagnosis because he could still walk and use his arms. Roy and Diane reminisced about their work and relationship history. Roy enjoyed teaching and found it satisfying when people passed their exams. However, Roy’s condition became progressive, and he could no longer work at all. He could only use one hand.
Why they prefer home care
Diane explained that we provided an initial consultation and asked for their requirements, and she has been pleased with the service we have provided.
Having a care service at home has helped Roy to continue living his life on his terms. He tries to do as much as he can, but on days when he needs more assistance, he knows our team is there to help him. Diane mentioned that the home care assistants…
Make me feel really quite at ease because nothing too much trouble. I can go out and leave them with Roy as they know what his needs are and I have peace of mind knowing that when they leave he’s ok’.
Living with a medical condition can affect your life in many ways, but a home care service can provide the support needed to adjust to your new abilities in a comfortable and familiar environment. This ability to receive support at home means a lot to Roy and Diane, as it helps them continue their lives together.
