In December, we increased our offer of free companionship care

What is Companionship Care?

We all naturally seek the companionship of others, but as we get older, become unwell or suffer from a bereavement, our social lives can be negatively impacted resulting in social isolation and loneliness.

It is the simple things that can make us feel happier, such as having some company to watch television or having someone pop over for a cup of tea and a chat. This companionship is important for our health and well-being and reduces the risk of other diseases such as heart disease, risks associated with obesity and even Alzheimer’s disease.

Companionship care doesn’t just have to be staying in, it can also include getting out and about. Some older people may want a companion to go to bingo with, go to the cinema, or even just out for lunch. It is very important to get outside and into our communities, for mental health and stimulation.

Free Companionship Care For Our Clients

We want to make sure that our clients feel valued this Christmas, which is why we are offering them all some free Companionship Care throughout December. We can pop around for a cup of tea, come and play a game of chess, or even just watch some television with you. And it is all free…

Why Are We Offering Free Companionship Care?

We know that, despite the end of the lockdown, many areas are still in the highest tiers and still have tight restrictions, which further increases the risk of social isolation for older people and those with disabilities.

Our team are trained in infection control and PPE use, which makes our visits safe and in line with Government guidance. As we already visit our clients, to provide home care support to them, this puts us in the unique position to provide Companionship Care, to keep our clients company whilst their families cannot visit.
