About Sylvia Home Health care story
The couple first met at a busy delicatessen where Sylvia worked, and although it took some effort, Don finally won Sylvia’s heart. They now happily celebrate ten years of marriage in the picturesque countryside of Lincolnshire. Despite the impact of Parkinson’s on their lives, they continue to explore the beautiful countryside and charming market towns, enjoying life’s little pleasures.
Our Day with Sylvia:
Don greeted us warmly at the door and invited us into their cosy abode where we enjoyed a delightful conversation over a steaming cup of tea where Syliva shared her home health care story. During this heartwarming chat, Sylvia opened up about her diagnosis and the obstacles she has faced. She spent some time in the hospital, reaching a point where she couldn’t even get out of bed on her own.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, she realized she needed assistance from carers. After spending three months in the hospital, she returned home feeling helpless and frustrated. Without the help of carers and Don, she wouldn’t be able to manage.
Sylvia spoke highly of the Home Care Assistants who visit her. “They are incredibly helpful and friendly individuals who bring joy into my life“. Sylvia eagerly awaits their visits as they provide an opportunity for lively conversations and are always willing to lend a helping hand. They assist her with dressing, getting into bed, and providing company.
Why Sylvia Prefers
Home Care
It allows her to cherish precious moments in the comfort of her own home, alongside her devoted husband Don. Don takes care of her, taking her out, cooking for her, doing her laundry, and even assisting her with her medication.
While Sylvia appreciates the luxurious comforts she still enjoys at home, she especially values the presence of her friends who continue to visit her. In her eyes, this surpasses the experience of a care home, as she can freely express herself and engage in activities she enjoys. The visits from her friends are a significant difference to her day.
It does make a big difference. It’s nice to see the faces you know every day, always cheerful and I look forward to them coming.
Living with a medical condition can affect your life in many ways, but a home care service can provide the support needed to adjust to your new abilities in a comfortable and familiar environment.
