“Following a difficult year due to coronavirus, social isolation is a real threat in 2020 and beyond. This is why we have decided no-one should be left to eat alone this Christmas”
Free Christmas meals for all our wonderful clients
No-one should be eating alone at Christmas. This is what our Managing Director, James Fry, and his team of merry elves (our passionate home care assistants) have said this year. And they are right.
This year has been a tough one, where we have all had to socially isolate more than ever. Christmas is usually a time for family and friends to get together, share presents, play some games and eat some lovely food. But Christmas 2020 is very different.
Whilst the restrictions are being temporarily lifted for a few days over Christmas, we are well aware that this doesn’t change the risk to our clients. Likewise, many of our clients (people who are older or of ill health) are unlikely to want to have lots of people over for Christmas, simply due to the risk this poses to their health. But the risks of being socially isolated are there too.
When loved ones would normally come over and maybe even cook Christmas dinner for our clients, where this is not possible, we are offering free Christmas meals for any client who wants on.
You Are Not Alone This Christmas
Not only are we providing free Christmas dinners to our clients, we are also offering them to our clients spouse, and to any of our care staff who our clients wish to invite for dinner.
Our team are trained in COVID-19, infection control and in the correct use of PPE. We already visit our clients on a daily basis and we can afford the time to sit down with them for a socially distanced, PPE cladded Christmas dinner. Will it be different? Yes. Will our staff make sure it is fun? Certainly. Will this help our clients avoid feeling lonely this Christmas? Absolutely.
Why offer free Christmas dinners?
We have launched a new campaign to fight social isolation, called Four Walls. The campaign aims to help people avoid feeling socially isolated by providing them with the guidance, support and encouragement to stay socially active.
Our offer of free Christmas dinners to our clients is part of this campaign. Through giving away from meals, with the added extra of being able to invite one of our team to join them, means that our clients are less likely to spend Christmas on their own.
