Lincolnshire and York Teams Create Gift Baskets for Clients

A Little Extra Christmas Cheer

As Christmas approaches, our teams across Lincolnshire and York have been busy doing what they do best: thinking about the people we support, and finding ways to make the season feel warmer, brighter, and more personal.

Over the past few weeks, both branches have come together to create festive gift baskets for clients—carefully packed, beautifully presented, and finished with thoughtful handmade touches that reflect the heart of The Great Care Company. These are not “one-size-fits-all” hampers. Each basket has been prepared with real care, wrapped with festive red bows, and labelled with personalised name tags so that every client receives something that feels truly theirs.

Two branches, one shared purpose

Although our Lincolnshire and York teams work across different communities, the intention behind this project has been exactly the same: to bring joy, comfort, and a sense of being valued at a time of year that can feel difficult for some people.

Christmas can be full of happy moments, but it can also be a time when loneliness feels louder and routines change. In home care, we see first-hand how important the small things are—consistency, kindness, and reassurance. So, while these gift baskets are a simple gesture, they carry a bigger message: you matter to us, and we’re thinking of you.

What’s inside the gift baskets

Each basket has been filled with festive favourites and cosy winter essentials to suit the season. Our teams have included a mix of treats and practical items, such as:

  • Winter coins / Christmas winter kits – a cheerful little winter-themed bundle to add seasonal spirit

  • Chocolate coins – a classic Christmas treat that always brings a smile

  • Calendars – something useful for the year ahead and a helpful way to keep track of routines

  • Hot chocolates – perfect for a cosy evening in during the colder months

  • Christmas treats – a selection of festive bits to enjoy over the holidays

Presented in wicker-style baskets and wrapped neatly for gifting, they look and feel special—exactly as they should.

The handmade touches that made them truly personal

What makes these baskets stand out isn’t only what’s inside. It’s the time, effort, and creativity that went into making each one feel genuinely personal.

In Lincolnshire, Assistant Manager Sue’s mum has knitted mini winter stockings to include in the gift baskets—beautiful little red-and-white stockings that add a traditional, homely touch. Each one is handmade, and together they represent hours of work, patience, and generosity. It’s the kind of detail you simply cannot buy, and it has brought an extra layer of warmth to every basket.

In York, Home Care Assistant Elysia has crocheted personalised gift tags so each basket can be labelled with care. These tags make an immediate difference. Instead of a generic “To our client” label, each basket feels prepared specifically for the person receiving it. That personalisation matters—especially in home care, where relationships, familiarity, and trust are at the centre of everything we do.

Between the knitted stockings and the crocheted tags, these baskets have become something much more meaningful than a seasonal treat. They’ve become a community effort—created by people who care, for people who deserve to feel cared for.

A reflection of who we are

At The Great Care Company, we often talk about going the extra mile. Not as a slogan, but as a day-to-day commitment—showing up, paying attention, noticing the small things, and doing what we can to make life more comfortable.

This project captures that spirit. It’s a reminder that home care is not only about tasks and schedules. It’s about people. It’s about making someone feel seen and supported. And it’s about bringing kindness into the everyday, even in small ways.

We are proud of both branches for embracing this idea and turning it into something tangible and heartfelt. From organising supplies and assembling baskets, to wrapping them carefully and adding those handmade elements—this has been a true team effort.
