Unique Hand Drawn Art for our Clients
Home Care Assistant Marzanna has been creating beautiful, hand-drawn artwork to celebrate our amazing clients.
Home Marzanna Filipuik, one of our fantastic members of staff, is combining her creative skills with her kind heart to give our wonderful clients a gift they can cherish forever through the use of our Extra Mile Fund. Marzanna is a Home Care Assistant based in the York area. Not only is Marzanna a skilled and valued Care Assistant but she is also an outstanding artist. As you can see from her work, we are sure that you will be as blown away by it as we are.
Why does Marzanna draw our clients?
Marzanna feels very fortunate to be able to express her passion for art at work. “Being a Carer is a hard job, but when doing something so personal and special it makes it worthwhile. . . “
As a home care assistant, one of the aspects that Marzanna enjoys most about her role is building genuine relationships with her clients. Always on a mission to bond with her clients, Marzanna started her creative journey when she sporadically created a hand drawn portrait of a lady that she was caring for in hope that it would bring a smile to her face. That joyous reaction by the client to the portrait stayed with Marzanna and fuelled her to replicate this creativity and bring this joy to even more people.
So far Marzanna has made four portraits and is keen to do more. We have all felt great separation from our loved ones over last year’s lockdowns and this separation has caused carers like Marzanna to bond with their clients on a much deeper level.
However, these beautiful, hand drawn portraits are more than just stunning pieces of artwork that can be hung on a wall. In cases of dementia, the strong feeling of joy that these portraits bring can also help to strengthen our client’s self-identity.
How does Marzanna create the portraits?
The creative journey starts with a happy photograph of the client upon which the drawing will be based on.
Once Marzanna has the photograph she will sit and draw the image onto a piece of paper turning a blank canvas into a beautiful piece of hand-drawn art that will bring a smile to those who see it. The creative process usually takes Marzanna 3 – 4 hours which is an incredibly short period to create such a beautiful work of art in our opinion! Once the portrait has been completed it is then presented to the client in a frame so that it can be hung in their home and cherished every time it is passed.

Since such acts of altruistic kindness seem so rare these days, we are truly privileged to have such a kind-hearted home care assistant working for us at The Great Care Company.
