VE Day Celebrations in Lincolnshire
VE Day celebrations are a cherished opportunity to honour those who served and remember the sacrifices made during World War II. At The Great Care Company, our Lincolnshire office marked this significant day with a warm and memorable afternoon tea party—bringing clients, carers, and the community together in true British spirit.

A Special Day of Remembrance and Joy
The room was lovingly transformed with patriotic decorations—Union Jack flags, classic bunting, and 1940s-style table settings. But the true heart of the VE Day celebrations lay in the people: the joyful atmosphere, the stories shared, and the sense of unity that filled every corner of the room.
One carer expressed pride in being part of the setup, saying, “It truly was a fantastic afternoon. I feel proud that I helped set up the room and prepare the afternoon tea with such amazing colleagues.”
Bringing Clients Together Through Care and Companionship

For some clients, attending a social event was a step outside their comfort zone. “A couple of our clients were a little anxious,” one team member shared. “But with support before and during the day—including transport—they came, and it warmed my heart to see how much they enjoyed it.”
This inclusive approach ensured everyone could take part in the VE Day celebrations, regardless of their circumstances. The result? Genuine smiles, new connections, and a sense of belonging.
Traditional Afternoon Tea
The event featured a delicious afternoon tea, complete with finger sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, Victoria sponge cake, and perfectly brewed tea. All the treats were carefully prepared by the team, adding a homemade touch to the day.
As music from the 1940s played in the background, it sparked touching conversations among guests. “There really were some strong characters within the room,” a carer noted. “Listening to their wartime stories on the day we were celebrating was an honour and a privilege.”
These conversations gave the VE Day celebrations a deeper meaning—reminding everyone of the courage and resilience of those who lived through the era.
A True Team Effort
Behind the scenes, the event was powered by passion and teamwork. Special thanks go to Anne, Sue, Caroline and the team, who led the coordination of the day with thoughtfulness and dedication. “Big thanks to you, Anne, for organising us all and putting it together,” a colleague remarked.
It’s moments like these that embody our core values at The Great Care Company: compassion, connection, and community. The VE Day celebrations reflected not just history, but our ongoing commitment to meaningful care.

Looking Ahead
We remain committed to organising events that go beyond care and into the heart of what makes our work fulfilling—connection and joy. This year’s VE Day celebrations in Lincolnshire were a beautiful example of that mission in action.
We’re incredibly proud of the Lincolnshire team, and even more so of the clients who joined us for a day filled with remembrance, laughter, and love.
