Infection Control in healthcare organisations is one of the top priorities.

Every Care Assistant of The Great Care Company team is trained in Infection Control so they have an understanding of what it is, how to prevent infections what to do if a client has an infection and most importantly how to control it.

The Importance

Infection Control is so important because, at the end of the day, that person’s health is in your hands. If you are trained in Infection Control you must put your understanding into action.

Care Assistants must wear correct PPE such as aprons and gloves, wash their hands before and after preparing meals or making a drink or even when assisting with dressing a client. Bacteria and germs can spread like wildfire from one client to another if they have an illness such as a cold.

This is why it is important to know when to wear the correct PPE to wash your hands and follow the correct policies and procedures as Infection Control can be prevented this way.

Our Policies

The purpose of putting policies and procedures in place for Infection Control is to ensure employees, clients and families are protected against infectious diseases and infections by providing guidelines for their investigation, control and prevention.

Our Practices

The Great Care Company practices infection control measures when providing service to its clients to minimise the risk of infections to employees, clients, families, and the community at large by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) regulations. Infection Control policies are put into practice in service users’ own homes throughout The Great Care Company.

Our Training

Infection Control is one of the subjects covered in The Great Care Company induction days. Our Care Assistants have refresher training on courses like Infection Control to keep their knowledge fresh and updated with it being one of our top priorities to keep clients happy, healthy and at home.
